Fed up with inability of the federal government to provide adequate power supply in the country to promote industrial production, Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (PAN) has joined other manufacturers who have called on President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to address power generation and supply.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS shortly after the launch of 307 Sedan in Nigeria yesterday at the company’s premises, Managing Director of PAN, Dr. Haroun Aliyu, said PAN and other manufacturing companies in the country can only thrive and remain in production, when the epileptic power supply problem is taken seriously and resolved once and for all.
He lamented a situation where millions of naira of the companies revenue is spent on fuel.
Aliyu told P.M.NEWS that despite the unfriendly environment for production, the three-year old new management team of PAN has resolved to remain in car manufacturing business in the country, thus the launch of the new industrial plant for production of 307 Sedans in Nigeria.
Aliyu said PAN can only produce 22 units per day and seven thousand annually, until the Federal government improves power supply situation in the country. He said with constant power supply, it could comfortably produce 245 cars per day.
